I completed one of my life triumphs (bucket list you could say) this past weekend, a Triathlon!  This challenge has always been something I wanted to do and the only way to get it done is to just do it.

I ran the Disco Tri sprint distance which consists of 500-yd open water swim (lake), 17.6 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run.  My time was 1:35 which put me 16th of 40 in my age group and 125th overall of 303 (there was an olympic distance with 350+ racers).  Not bad for a rookie.

So now that this is off my to-do list I’m hooked.  I have already scheduled races for August, September, and October.  Can’t wait!

Effective June 20, 2008, CARFAX rolled out a new consumer pricing structure for CARFAX Vehicle History Reports to provide consumers with more options in how the use vehicle history during their used car shopping process.  We are offering a new pricing plan that will allow consumers to run 10 CARFAX Reports for $29.99.  The CARFAX Single Report will stay priced at $24.99 and the CARFAX Unlimited Reports will be increased to $34.99.

Since the last consumer price increase over a year ago, CARFAX has continued to improve the CARFAX Report experience and add new data.  Some of the latest examples include:

1-Owner CARFAX Xpert – Offers insight on the estimated dollar amount consumers are willing to pay for CARFAX 1-Owner cars.

23,000 data sources – We are constantly acquiring new data sources, including those that are most important to consumers such as accident and service data.  The average CARFAX Report now includes over 11 records per report.

We will also be sponsoring the CARFAX 250 NASCAR Race again this August to help build awareness and preference among used car shoppers.

eBay Motors must have built a new report that displayed much more insight into their listings because everything related to Trust and Safety is on the rise.

- Local Market listing policy enforcement is going wild.  The biggest issue is dealers adding other phone numbers outside of their eBay (CallBright) issued toll-free numbers.  If I was selling cars I would put my cell phone on every listing too.  They do it on AutoTrader and Cars.com!

- One of the current big debates at eBay is whether or not to disallow outside links on eBay listings.  What a TERRIBLE idea to remove this ability!  This affects dealers linking out to their eBay Motors current listings, CARFAX history reports, warranty information related to that car, credit applications, financing information, etc.

- Another Local Market debate at eBay is to disallow 3rd party lead forms and links in the listings.  I’ll say it again….What a TERRIBLE idea to remove this ability!  They want everything to go through My eBay which is understandable, but that is not how the automotive industry operates.  Dealers live and die by lead forms and ILM tools.

- They are now requiring sellers to disclose any auction announced frame or unibody damage in their listing descriptions.  In order to ensure both minimum disclosure standards and allow sellers the option to disclose as either damaged or repaired, the following statement is now required:

“This vehicle currently or previously had frame or unibody damage or repair reported by an auction agency.”
